The Raven Academy could save my life… if it doesn’t kill me first.
Waitressing might pay my bills, but it’s my cage fighting at night that really cranks my gears. Until some weird hidden power helped me win a fight. Now no one wants to step in the ring with me.
And my life is going from weird to worse. The same night a werewolf tried to tear out my throat, a guy shows up telling me magic exists AND goes on to prove it. And, oh yeah, my life is in danger now that my abilities have started to show.
Apparently the answer is for me to follow this hottie professor to some Raven Academy and learn magic. School was never my jam, but at least this one comes with a hot demon who’s helping me train and a sexy fellow student who seems to be interested in more than just study hall. Throw in Professor Sexy Pants tutoring me privately to improve my magic, and it’s every girl’s dream.
Until I find out I’m part of some save-the-world prophecy, and the fate of all supernatural creatures rests on my shoulders. Great.
If my sexy consorts and I can’t pummel my magic into shape soon, we’re all doomed…

I leaned over my bowl, watching as the pasty coconut oil melted into the ground-up herbs. I wrinkled my nose. “Is it supposed to smell this bad?”
The mixture turned a dark purple and steam began to rise.
“Bad?” Dante looked up, a furrow between his brow. “It shouldn’t—” His eyes flew wide. “Delaney! Move!” Grabbing me around the waist, he spun, taking me to the ground just as my cauldron exploded, shooting toward the roof.
Little bits of ceiling tile rained down on us, and Dante covered my body with his own. When the world grew quiet, he pushed off me. “Delaney? Are you all right?” He ran his hands along my body, looking for injury. He brushed over some aches I’d gotten from the demon, but I didn’t complain. His hands felt too good, running down my arms, my back, my thighs…
Christ. I rolled to my side. It must be lack of sleep making me horny. Or maybe it was some primitive biological drive. My mind knew I had been close to death several times in the past day, and it wanted me to reproduce before someone killed me.
“I’m fine. What the hell happened?” It was just like chemistry class all over again.
Dante took my hand and pulled me to my feet. “That’s what I’d like to know.” He looked to the ceiling, and the iron bowl embedded in the plaster.
Professor Clovern scurried over with a flower pot waterer, dousing the small flames that flickered on the table. “Nothing in that mix should have reacted like that. Did you add something of your own?” He looked at me accusingly.
I held my hands out wide. “I don’t carry herbs around with me to throw in cauldrons. And I followed the instructions to the letter.” I thought.
Dante poked through the mess on the desk, but my box with the herbs had been destroyed. “You said you smelled something bad. What was it?”
“I don’t know. It was just…bad.”
The professor flapped his hands. “I’m going to have to tell the headmistress about this. Another explosion on academy property.”
“Think, Delaney.” Dante gripped my shoulders, looking at me intently. “What did you smell?”
I closed my eyes. Tried to remember the scent as I’d leaned over the burner. “Like a mix of burning rubber… with maybe some rotten eggs thrown in?” I opened my eyes to find Dante frowning. “Look, I’m not good with smells.”
He looked over my shoulder. “You know what this means?” he asked Clovern.
“Now, I hardly think—”
“It doesn’t matter what you think.” Dante ran a hand through his hair. “Somebody just tried to kill Delaney.”
