Fishing trips with my dad were the best. Sometimes we would got to the river and camp. I still remember the smell of the morning campfire and coffee brewing.

Just a simply journey to a fast food parlor is better than not doing anything at all with your father.

I don’t do much with my dad, but the hubby goes fishing with his dad. Our kids all live in other states, so it’s usually phone calls from them.

My fondest Father’s Day memory was my husband’s very first father’s day in 2005! <3

When I was pregnant with our first child my husband was asked to preach at the church he grew up in. We had not told anyone but his mom we were expecting so during his message he mentioned what an honor it was to preach on his first Father’s Day. The whole congregation was caught off guard but so happy for us. It was so wonderful to see the pride and joy in my husbands face as he announced our happy news, it still makes me smile thinking about it.

I think this year will actually be the best as our family was completed in November with our second daughter.

I remember this one Father’s Day, I was out with the family at this cabin at an outdoor resort area. And I entered to go to this wood working class they had for free. My father and I were going to build this bird feeder. The kind you hang that has plexi glass in the middle so you see the seeds. Anyhow, I ended up making a fool of myself. My father was laughing as I tried so hard to just hammer nails and they kept sticking out everywhere and my father would have to re-do it. He basically made the bird feeder himself and I felt so useless because everything I tried to “help” with, he would have to spend extra time fixing it. We were the last ones to finish our bird feeder in the work shop and I felt I let my father down. But when we got in the car, he hugged me and told me he enjoyed himself. That he had fun laughing at my antics and was glad I wasn’t perfect in everything. It turned out to be a great Father’s Day even though I also found out that wood working was definitely not my strong point.
