I have been compensated by Pedialyte for this post; however, I am sharing my own thoughts. All opinions are my own.

Upset tummies are bad enough, but they are especially detested in our household.  My husband has a severe phobia of human vomit.  He has gotten far better over the years, especially since we’ve had kids, but I still have to take charge a lot of time when it happens.  To lessen the grossness as much as possible, I’ve learned a few things that I want to share with you.

My first tip to surviving a tummy bug is a disposable container.  Behold our “barf bucket”.

bucket

Yes, it’s gross cleaning it out.  But I’d FAR rather clean that out than have to clean up furniture, clothing, floors, and/or myself.  Kids are not going to make it to the toilet.  Just accept that, and have a cheap, disposable container around for when these issues hit.  Ours is a leftover holiday treat container, but disposable food storage containers or even something from the dollar store would work well.  Just make sure it’s disposable or cheap enough that you won’t feel bad about throwing it out after this episode of sickness is over.  Pick it up now and maybe you’ll never need it!

My other tip is to stay hydrated.  It’s SO hard to get fluids into kids when they have upset stomachs, and they get dehydrated so easily, both from vomiting and diarrhea.  Pedialyte is the #1 pediatrician and pharmacist recommended way to keep little ones hydrated.  Pedialyte is specially formulated with the perfect blend of sugar and sodium to help prevent dehydration from diarrhea and vomiting.  And guess what?  Adults can use it too!  No need to keep two different types of products for when the bug inevitably runs through the household – just give everybody Pedialyte.

You can pick up Pedialyte right at your local Walmart, in the baby section.  In my store, it was right next to the infant formula.  This makes it easy to run in, pick up a few bottles and run right out to take care of the sick kiddo.  (hopefully it’s only one!)

I easily found Pedialyte on the shelf, in a range of flavors (including unflavored), along with their freezer pops and powder packs.  I picked up the strawberry flaovr, as well as a bottle of cherry punch Pedialyte AdvancedCare, which also contains Preactiv prebiotics to help promote stomach health – just another boost to keep those tummy troubles away.

Pedialyte also has a fantastic offer out right now!  You can save $2 on your next purchase of two (2) one-liter bottles of Pedialyte through the Ibotta app.  Find out more details on Ibotta or by clicking the graphic below.

Ahhh.. The dreaded stomach bug. We have avoided it so far this year and we continue to hope to avoid it. Good luck!

Gosh, there is nothing worse than an upset stomach. I recall hugging or holding a barf bucket many times. I know dehydration can be an issue when this happens, especially if you are barfing at both ends. Glad they have a product to keep the electrolytes up.

Pedialyte is a must have in our house. We even used it for the dogs before.
