I received the product shown below in order to conduct a review. All thoughts are my own. This post contains affiliate links.

When I was researching to purchase what would become my current smartphone, I was checking out a phone that didn’t have an slot for a memory card.  I saw some sort of USB sticks that would work in a Micro USB  as well as a USB 2.0 port that most Android phones use for charging.  However, I never really pursued the product because I wound up purchasing a different phone.  So when I was given the chance to tell you about the Onite 32GB USB Flash Drive for Cell Phones & PCs, I was very happy to do so.  This way I could see just how well this memory stick would work so I would know for my next phone purchase and use it for my current Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S4).

This is a great memory stick; 32GB is a lot of room and would hold many, many movies and songs.  For example, 32GB of memory can hold about 7000 songs.  That’s plenty big enough, even for me.When you add in the Micro USB facet of this product, the value jumps considerably higher.  Now you can keep large files off your phone but still always have them with you.

I plugged the USB 2.0 side into my Windows 8 laptop and immediately the software needed to recognize the drive was installed.  I moved a photo to the drive (it showed up as the F drive on my computer) for test purposes and then ejected it properly before removing.  I then plugged the Onite stick into my phone’s Micro USB port (where you plug in the charging cable).  Right away, it told me that a USB drive was plugged in and brought up my the files for my phone.

A little bit of navigation later brought me to the USB stick and the files on that and I could see the photo I had put on there.

I also could easily open up a spreadsheet on the phone to edit it (as you can see in the collage below).  All of the screenshots and photos taken of this product in action were also put on the stick and plugged back into my computer to put them into this post.  It was just as easy to eject the drive – I just had to pull down the notification bar to do so.

And then I plugged it back into my computer and had all of my photos for this review ready to go!

I can only see 2 areas of potential improvement.  The first is the length of the component that goes into the Micro USB port on my phone.  I suppose it’s that long to get past any cases but I almost felt like it may break off or bend because it’s so long.  I also think it would be really cool if this product came on a key chain so I could keep track of it more easily.   Both of these are minor factors and really don’t dampen my satisfaction with this product.

I think I would be most likely to use the Onite USB drive to move photos from my phone to my laptop or vice versa.   For one or two photos, I’d probably continue to use a cloud drive.  But for lots of photos, I’ll be relying on the Onite USB drive.  It’s a lot easier than hunting down my phone’s cord, unplugging it, plugging it into my phone, etc.  Plus I have a thing for USB sticks – I just like them!  I think the Onite USB drive would be most useful when you’re traveling and want to have a bunch of movies with you to watch on your device but don’t have a lot of open memory on your actual device.  The Onite 32GB USB Flash Drive for Cell Phones & PCs is an accessory I would recommend for anybody with Android phones or tablets.  You can purchase it on Amazon.  The suggested retail price is $47.99.
