As I’m sure you’re aware, it’s graduation season.  I bet you will attend at least one graduation this summer, if not more.  While the ones I attend lately are more of the kindergarten variety, it’s prime season for high school graduations.  And while we’re past most of the college graduations, no grad will turn down a gift you give them a bit late, especially if it’s from Best Buy.

Best Buy is he best place to go if you have a variety of grads to buy for.  If they’re young, they probably like tech.  And has Best Buy got tech!  In fact, the gurus at the Best Buy Gift Center have compiled a list of gifts perfect for the Networking Grad that will help him or her stay connected to friends, old and new, no matter where they may go.

Even though the last time I graduated was well over 10 years ago, I can identify with the Networker grad.  At the point I graduated college, MySpace was still around, as well as AIM and other chatting programs.  If you had a cellphone, you were lucky if you get a choice of computer-y ringtones.  So I am so amazed to see what technology awaits the Class of 2014.

My personal fave from the Networker list of gifts is the Seagate – Backup Plus Slim 1TB External USB 3.0/2.0 Portable Hard Drive.  I have a similar external hard drive and boy howdy, has that thing saved my butt numerous times!  These kinds of devices are an easy way to make back-ups of your computer, because at one point, you WILL lose something.  I remember losing a huge paper in college.  And it could never be recovered.  To this day, I save obsessively when typing anything.  One of these babies would have saved me hours – if only they existed back then!  An external drive also makes it easy to switch to a newer laptop.  I used mine to move all of my files over from my old laptop to this new one.  Easy!  And then I just kept them on the drive as a back-up.

It’s so amazing but that hard drive contains as much storage as the laptop I’m using right now!  Just blows your mind, doesn’t it?

What’s even better about this gift that it’s currently under $75!  You could even pick up another gift (for the grad or yourself!) like SOL REPUBLIC JAX Earbud Headphones for under $50 and be considered the coolest gift giver ever.

No matter what kind of grad you’re buying for, Best Buy Gift Center has something for them.  They’ve got picks for the Networker, the grad who’s moving out and the Fitness Fanatic.  There’s also a set of products broken out under $100 and even under $50, so you can pick up something cool even if you’re on a budget.  And of course, there’s the one-size-fits-all, no returns necessary, Best Buy Gift Card!  No matter what you pick, your Greatest Grad will be thrilled with any gift from Best Buy.

I have that external hard drive and I love it! We’ve been trying to figure out what to get my nephew for his graduation – a Best Buy gift card would probably be perfect. Thanks for the inspiration. 🙂

I am finally out from under all types of graduations–at least until grand nieces and nephews start moving along! I remember distinctly going to Best Buy for Gift Cards for my friends son–and not only graduations–also birthdays etc. It was all he wanted and I wasn’t about to attempt to figure out exactly what it was he meant when he attempted to tell me!!

This post just reminded me that I need an external hard drive – my pictures are starting to seriously eat away at the memory of my laptop! I might pick one up for my friend too…She just graduated with her Masters and, although I never thought of it before, it would make a great gift! Thanks for the ideas!
