Save money with Perrigo Nutritionals for your baby and toddler!

The Perrigo Nutritionals product, information and two gift packs have been provided by Perrigo Nutritionals.  All thoughts are my own.

I’m all for saving money on anything I can.  Many times that involves purchasing store-brand products of all kinds.  I know many other moms watching their budgets do the same thing, but when it comes to baby and toddler products, they continue to use national brands.  That’s a shame, because did you know using a store-brand of infant formula that is nutritionally comparable to the big brands could save about $600 per year?  I can tell you that 2 of my children are products of store-brand formula and are perfectly healthy.

Formula is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to saving on baby and toddler products.  You know those toddler snacks that are so convenient but somewhat pricey?  You can even get those in a store-brand version!  Stores like Walmart and Target with their Parent’s Choice and Up and Up brands get their products from Perrigo Nutritionals.  Perrigo is the largest supplier of store-brand infant formula and nutrition products in the US.  Not only that, they’re one of only FOUR companies in the country to meet FDA standards for safety, nutrition and quality for infant formula-manufacturing.  So you can rest easy knowing that your child is consuming regulated  and safe food products.

As I’ve mentioned before, I regularly buy store-brand toddler snacks.  We regularly use the Up and Up/Target brand of yogurt bites, mostly because I tend to get there more than Walmart.  My toddler loves these snacks and could care less what brand makes them.  Mom is happy because of the savings!  I know many other food stores carry these products from Perrigo Nutritionals, so look to see what you can find (and save!) the next time you’re shopping at stores like Meijer, Stop & Shop and Kroger.

We’re also a big fan of the store-brand puffs.  The only difference I can see is the actual shape of the puff and the variety of flavors offered.  Once again, the toddler squeals just as loudly for the store-brand canister as for the brand-name one.

What was new to me was the fruit pouches.  I knew that there were store-brands, but I found that it was hard to find stores that carry them.  However, I’ve been finding that we appreciate the convenience of having fruit and/or veggies in a pouch so I’ve been looking to buy them.  I also want to stock up on them for our trip this summer to make balanced nutrition easy so I’ll be scoping out the various stores and picking up the store-brands whenever I can.

Crystal Paine, author of “Say Goodbye to Survival Mode: 9 Simple Strategies to Stress Less, Sleep More, and Restore Your Passion for Life”, has more to say on the topic of store-brands and how they can help you lead a simpler, less-stressful life:

Crystal Paine’s 5 Money Saving Tips for Families

Create a Budget
A budget gives you parameters and purpose, it gives you boundaries, and it gives you freedom to live creatively within those boundaries.

Shop With Cash
When you shop with a credit card (or even a debit card, for that matter!) you can have your budget in your head and you can do the best to stick with it when you check out, but it’s so much easier to go just a little bit over here and there when you’re swiping!

Plan a Menu
When you have a plan in place for what you’re supposed to be eating each meal and you’ve already purchased the ingredients for those recipes, it’s a lot harder to justify chucking the plan for takeout.

Use Coupons
Coupons are a great way to save a lot of money on your grocery bill, but they can be hard to keep up with. Clipping, sorting, and organizing coupons takes time — so enter a coupon database! You’ll have access to printable and other coupons currently available and it’s one of the most effective and efficient ways to save money on groceries.

Buy Store Brands

One way to save a great deal of money on your grocery budget is to learn to like and use a variety of brands. The sooner you can get over being a brand-snob, the more your pocketbook will thank you.
For example, while I breast fed my children, moms who choose to formula feed can save up to 50 percent by switching to store brand formula, which meets the same FDA quality standards as expensive name brands. There are also coupons available at a website – StoreBrandFormula.com (www.storebrandformula.com).  This one simple change can save moms about $600 a year.

These are all great tips that I find help me keep stress down, if even for a little bit.  Paine also has lots of other wonderful ideas in this book, including how setting even simple goals can help you achieve more in life.

i have always tried store brands. they sometimes are the same exact product as a name brand, just packaged for a different store. of course some are better than others but it is worth trying them! they tend to be less expensive

I have bought store brands before for many things. I think they are pretty much the same as big brand names except for a select few items. I don’t mind buying store brands at all. It’s a great way to save money and you’re really not sacrificing anything at all!

I buy store brands sometimes.. honestly I usually just buy whatever is on sale or I have a coupon for.. bascially whichever comes out to be the better price. There are a lot of generic brand items that I have used and like just as much as the bigger names.

Yes I’ve bought store brands before. Sometimes they are great, sometimes they aren’t. You take your chances, but the ones I have bought, and liked, have saved me money 🙂

We frequently buy store brands. We usually find them just as good – and sometimes better – than the big name brand products. If you can’t tell the difference once it’s out of the package, buy store brand products!

Those pouches look healthy as does all of the food. Your little one is adorable – those blue eyes! And, you’re right , when I shop with a credit card or when hungry, I end up buying more than I need. Cash and a full-stomach is the way to go ;).

I think, especially when it comes to those puffy snacks, that cereal is often a good replacement and you’re getting a lot more box for your buck

we have been trying to say goodbye to survival mode. It’s nice to have a little breathing room. I am a big fan of coupons, but whenever I need something that I don’t have a coupon for, I always turn to the store brands. They are usually just as good if not better than brand-name stuff.

I find myself buying store brands more and more often. Most of the time they are identical to the brand names. Store brand formula is a great way to save money and the labels are the exact same!
